Buttons are clothing items that humans often accompany. It has been used for more than 6,000 years. As early as 4000 years ago, the ancestors of Iran, the Persians, had made buttons from stones. China's Zhou Dynasty has begun to use the shirt under the clothes system, regardless of men and women are wearing two clothes under the shirt. There are officials who are in charge of making dresses. Civil and military officials must wear dresses for the ceremony. At that time, the use of clothing was relatively standardized, and the clothing system was quite complete.
The word "new" appeared in the "Chou Li", "Book of Rites" and other books reflecting the etiquette of the Zhou Dynasty in the Zhou Dynasty. "New" is a knot that is intertwined, that is, a knot. According to my collection of the Western Zhou Dynasty bronze Yinyin buttons and archeological discoveries in China, the buttons were used during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period.
The cultural relics of the Warring States Period unearthed from the Shizhai Mountains in Jinning, Yunnan, have been made of blue, apple green, and light gray turquoise with round, oval, animal head, and irregularly shaped buttons. Each has one or two small holes. Some engraved patterns, unique shapes, bright and colorful, with a beautiful waxy gloss. In the collection of button collections, simple buttons made of small stones, shellfish, animal horns, walnuts, and coconut shells are still used. This shows that during the Zhou Dynasty, the Spring and Autumn and the Warring States Periods, our Chinese people used buttons.
In the middle of the Tumulus period unearthed in Japan, the pattern displayed on the wheel made of human figures shows that men's clothing is composed of clothes and skirts, and the clothes are narrow-sleeved tops. It can be seen that the Japanese had used buttons before the Tumulus Period.
In the 16th century, the Chinese passed the buttons to Europe. At that time, only men used it, and female users were few. Most people only used it as clothing. In order to show their wealth, some dignitaries used precious materials such as precious gold and silver, pearls, gems, diamonds, rhino horns, antelope horns, and ivory to make buttons for use.
In France, King Louis XIV recorded that 13,000 precious buttons were used to make a royal robe. In my collection, there are precious buttons made of precious horns, antelope horns, ivory, gold and silver precious materials.
